About Cris Anne Walker

Cris Walker (formerly Christa Durand) is an operatic lyric soprano known for her versatile voice that effortlessly adapts to all styles of music. Cris brings clarity and warmth to every note she sings,
captivating audiences in a range of performances from classical recitals to intimate cabaret settings.

A proud native of Sonoma County, California, Cris has become an artistic cornerstone in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With a repertoire spanning hundreds of concerts and shows, her talents shine brightly across diverse venues.

Cris's commitment to music extends beyond the stage. Through various outreach programs, she fervently works to underline the timeless relevance of classical music in today's world. As a member of Opera on Tap, San Francisco, Cris brings opera to eclectic venues, breaking traditional boundaries and making the art form accessible to all.

A staunch advocate for music education and access, Cris co-founded Up Street Music Patrons, a non-profit organization dedicated to championing musical opportunities for everyone. The organization offers scholarships, subsidizes tuitions,
and brings professional performances into schools and communities, reflecting Cris's dedication to fostering a love for music in all.

Cris's passion for musical theatre and opera is evident in the many productions she orchestrates each year. Not only does she play the pivotal role of producer, meticulously planning and overseeing the intricate aspects of each show, but she also occasionally steps into the director's chair, guiding performers to bring stories to life on stage with authenticity and emotion. Cris champions personal development, ensuring that each participant grows in their artistry and skill set. A distinctive feature of her approach is the nurturing environment she creates, which encourages even those who have never set foot on a stage before, allowing novice performers to step into the spotlight with confidence.

In 2019 Cris and her husband, Evan Bowers, took ownership of Music to My Ears in Cotati. In MTME services they strive to provide a nurturing sanctuary where students, irrespective of their age or proficiency, can immerse themselves in the world of music and theater arts, hone their talents, realize their potential, and cultivate joy.
